Taking a stand!

For those of you who haven't noticed yet... Tomorrow is Pink shirt day... many of you may ask "what is that?"

The answer is: It's a day where everyone takes a stand and shows their defiance towards bullies.

A few years ago, young man in Nova Scotia was starting his first day of High school. He came to school wearing a pink polo shirt. A pack of bullies set upon him, targeting him because of his "gay" shirt. Details are sketchy as to what actually happened, but for any of us who've been in that kid's shoes you know it wasn't "in good fun", and needless to say going to school the next day was difficult at best.

Two senior students, who had been the victims of bullying in their younger years, heard about what had happened to this young man and the decided to put a plan in action...

Our young bullied kid came to school the next day, to discover the foyer packed with fifty kids, all wearing pink shirts.

Word got out, and a few years later, every February everyone in canada, from out students and cartoonists, to our police and politicians, wear pink as a show of support against bullying.

And I, have decided to bring to word to the world! I know most of you are not canadian, but American, british, Swedish, Australian, Kiwi, singapore-um-ish, and everyone in between, especially that fan in The Virgin Isalnds (hi!), But you can show support in your own little way with a dash of pink.

So do it for yourself, do it for your kids, your nieces and nephews. and most of all do it for that poor little shy fat kid who liked writing stories about his raccoon friends 15 years ago.

Cheers and Jitters.
