Hail to the chieftain!
Being inauguration day, and the end of an error (sic) I felt that today
I should look at a great Scottish politician (I don't start with the
easy ones do I?)
Get this! Turns out scotland has only had a parliament and real politicians
for ten years... Not only that, but a Scottish newspaper called the
Herald has a "Politician of the year" award! That's something
unthinkable in this country, or the other country just to the south
(okay, you've got Obama. Yeah Obama! It'll probably be another decade
before Treudeau gets in up here. Yeah Treudeau!)
Here's the list!
* 2008: Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Scottish National Party, Deputy First
Minister
* 2007: Alex Salmond MSP MP, Scottish National Party, First Minister
* 2006: Andy Kerr MSP, Labour, Minister for Health and Community Care
* 2005: George Reid MSP, Scottish National Party,
Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament
* 2004: Margaret Curran MSP, Labour, Minister for Communities
* 2003: George Reid MSP, Scottish National Party,
Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament
* 2002: Malcolm Chisholm MSP, Labour, Minister for Health and Community
Care
* 2001: Jack McConnell MSP, Labour, First Minister
* 2000: Jim Wallace MSP MP, Liberal Democrats, Deputy First Minister
* 1999: Donald Dewar MSP, MP, Labour, First Minister
So by default, we're honoring two time "Best Scottish Politician"
winner George Reid!
What a handsome devil!
Cheers and Jitters:
